2016 Olympic Trials, Going for Gold

The Wrestling Olympic trials are coming up this month on April 9-10. This is the tournament that decides who will be on the United States team competing in Rio. One specific wrestler, Jordan Burroughs is looking to make the team for the second time in his career. Burroughs gained the crown of Olympic champion in 2012 sweeping away the competition and getting the gold medal. He is also a three time world champion.

All of these credentials are not enough for Burroughs though, still wanting more out of his career. He wants to be a two time Olympic champion, but there may be a couple people from the same country standing in his way. The Olympic trials is always very competitive, but this year it may be harder than ever for Burroughs to gain a spot on the team. According to Iowacitytorio  He wrestles in the 64kg weight class and some would say it is the most competitive weight class this year. The weight class contains over three NCAA national champions, including Burroughs. Everyone trains for one thing, to win an Olympic Gold Medal, but many forget that one has to make the team first. As for Burroughs his goal is to be a two time Olympic champion, but for the others in his weight class they have the same goal; to win the Gold in Rio.
