Volleyball Game on Thursday at PH

Rural Retreat Lady Indians' volleyball team played their first in-season game on Thursday, August 25, at Patrick Henry (Glade Spring). The team led in the first two matches for a period of time, but recorded losses in the end. New coaches, Miranda Hilton and Morgan Goodbrod, have brought with them a wealth of experience and knowledge. The team has worked very hard and has a great season ahead of them! Scheduled for this upcoming week are matches against Eastern Montgomery, Marion, and Northwood. Look for some wins from the Lady Indians this season!

There is a football game at Fort Chiswell this Friday, August 26, and kickoff is at 7 PM. The team is hoping to bring home a victory for the second year in a row against the county rival. Coach Casey Stewart, who is new to  RRHS, is leading the team in their first in-season game. Another new coach, Coach Zack Leonard, joins us from Patrick Henry High School (Roanoke). Golf

There was a golf match Wednesday of this week. They came in with a thought of victory, but they couldn't get the win in the first match of the season. Coach Phillips retired after the final match of last season and Coach Harris was asked to be the new Rural Retreat High golf coach. The team came in second during their match Wednesday beating Northwood and eventually losing to Chilhowie by only five-strokes. The team was proud of their first match's performance. Some of them worked hard over the summer for the upcoming season to get as far they can. The team has an upcoming match against Marion and Holston, which they're confident about. Senior Zack Graffham was generous enough to give us some thoughts on the match Wednesday. "It went well but we could have played better, We should have made more of our putts on the green," said Graffham. The student body is looking forward to being able to see what this team will do this season.
