Varsity Baseball Blanks Narrows

Good news came for the varsity baseball team Monday, as the Indians traveled to Narrows for their season opener and got out of it with a 3-0 victory. Ryan Chandler started on the mound for the Indians, and he shut the Wave down. Jackson Sowers then came in for relief, and he as well did not give up a run, with the two of them combining for a three hit shutout. The game went really fast, faster than usual, as nobody seemed to be able to outmatch the other in this game . . . That is, until the top of the seventh inning. Dallas Shumate got it going for the Indians when he got on first to start then inning. Wyatt Sowers came up and got walked, with Shumate advancing to second. Trent O'Neil then hit out, but still advanced both runners, so the situation was one out with runners on second and third when Ryan Chandler came up to the plate. He was having a great day at the plate, hitting twice before that AB. Chandler came up, and then hit a single out to centerfield, which scored both Shumate and Sowers. All of a sudden, the Indians were beating the Green Wave 2-0. It wouldn't stop there, as later on we would get another man in, making it 3-0. Jackson Sowers then came on in the bottom of the seventh to close it out, and the Indians would walk away with a season opening win. The Indians play in the district tournament at Holston this upcoming weekend; hopefully they can bring it home.
