Whovians Unite for Tardis Petition

Hardcore Doctor Who fans, called "Whovians," are petitioning to turn the Empire State Building blue, just like the TARDIS, the device the doctor uses to travel time. According to 3 News, the campaign has gone to 28,867 signatures in just a week, only a few signatures shy of their goal of 34,999.

For those not-so-familiar with sci-fi shows, Doctor Who is one of the most famous sci-fi series and franchises. The series stars a time-traveling being, known as "The Doctor," who continually travels through time to fix problems with his companions. The series has gone on for 50 years, an impressive feat for a sci-fi show.

The reason Whovians are doing this is not just for fun, but to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the show on November 23. The Doctor has visited New York City several times in the series, so it makes sense to turn the Empire State TARDIS blue.  If you're a Whovian interested in adding your name to the petition, click through to Change.org.
