Rookie of the Year, or One-Year Wonder?

Through six weeks of play, the AFC and NFC Rookies of the Year are fairly unclear. For the NFC, two possible offensive picks would be the tackle from Philadelphia, Lane Johnson, or the tailback for The Pack, Eddie Lacy. Lacy has posted a 100-yard game, yet Lane Johnson has anchored an offensive line that blocks for two of the top fantasy football players in the NFL. Defensively, the NFC is home to Alec Ogletree of the Rams and Tyrann “The Honeybadger” Mathieu. Alec Ogletree has dominated the opposing teams at the linebacker position, almost as well as Tyrann Mathieu has defended both the pass and run. Through six weeks of play, the Honeybadger has one forced fumble, two sacks, and one interception in his home
town of New Orleans.

In the AFC, there are three possible offensive choices. Quarterbacks of the Jets and Bills, Geno Smith and EJ Manuel, respectively, have impacted the teams that drafted them. Leading these terrible teams to decent starts in the 2013 season, these guys have to be in consideration. Also, Gio Bernard, tailback of the Bengals, has provided the spark that Cinci has lacked since Cedric Benson’s prime. On the other side of the ball, Barkevious Mingo and Dion Jordan terrorize the offensive lines. Mingo has already notched three sacks, and at this pace he’ll finish with an astounding eight as just a rookie. In the other corner is a tall, stout Jordan that crushes the quarterback before he even goes through his progressions. Jordan always finds a way to get to the ball.
